Baylor football is set to host seven games at McLane Stadium and take on two teams who made runs to the 2024 College Football Playoff as part of its 12-game regular-season schedule released by the Big 12 Conference Tuesday.

After losing to his former team in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl on New Year’s Eve, head coach Dave Aranda went to work looking to build on an 8-4 season. Baylor football added 11 players in the transfer portal and replaced two coaches before the start of spring football.

Redshirt junior quarterback Sawyer Robertson threw for a career-high 445 yards on 30-of-51 passes, but a handful of self-inflicted wounds ate away at Baylor football’s chances to knock off LSU as they fell to the Tigers in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl, 44-31, Tuesday afternoon at NRG Stadium.

Baylor football is set to face off with LSU in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl on Dec. 31 at NRG Stadium in Houston, it was announced Sunday afternoon.

After knocking off West Virginia 49-35 and clinching bowl eligibility for the first time since 2022, a Baylor spokesman confirmed that head coach Dave Aranda will return for a sixth season in Waco.

Even the bye week can’t stop redshirt freshman running back Bryson Washington from rewriting the Baylor record books. Washington scored four touchdowns for the second game in a row as the green and gold won their first-ever game in Morgantown, 49-35, and clinched bowl eligibility against West Virginia on Saturday night.

Looking to claim a three-game winning streak for the first time since 2022, Baylor football will host its first “blackout” since 2016 while celebrating the 2013 and 2014 Big 12 Championship before a rivalry game against TCU at 7 p.m. Saturday at McLane Stadium.

Behind the most rushing yards in a single game in three years, Baylor football snapped an eight-game home losing streak to Big 12 opponents, knocking off Oklahoma State 38-28 on Saturday at McLane Stadium.

Although the Bears snapped a nine-game losing streak against Big 12 schools with their 59-35 win over Texas Tech out of the bye week, against the Cowboys (3-4, 0-4 Big 12) the green and gold will have another gnarly losing streak to snap. Since the 2021 Big 12 Championship season, Baylor has only won one game against an in-conference foe at home – a 35-23 homecoming win over Kansas on Oct. 22, 2022.

From watching Baylor football win a Big 12 Championship on the sidelines to starting in the Bears’ highest-scoring game against a Big 12 opponent under Aranda, Lengyel’s journey has been far from easy. But with a smile on his face, he rode the lows of struggling to find a place on the team to becoming one of the most exciting offensive linemen in the Big 12.

On Texas Tech’s Homecoming weekend, Baylor football redshirt junior quarterback Sawyer Robertson returned to his hometown and became the first Bear to throw five touchdown passes in a game since Seth Russell in 2015. Behind Robertson’s big day, the green and gold snapped a nine-game losing streak against Big 12 schools dating back to 2023 as they took down the Red Raiders, 59-35, on Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock.

Coming off a bye week two games below .500 at the halfway point in the season, Baylor football has a strong sense of urgency.
